Simply search 'mourning dove' in search the site box. They also have a legislative advocate in Lansing. Fund for Animals www.fundforanimals.org The Fund for Animals is very active and has helped defeat legislation to allow mourning dove hunting in several states, including Michigan. Society for Animal Protective Legislation www.saplonline.org Founded in 1955, SAPL is registered under the Federal Lobbying Act. They devote their entire effort to animal protective legislation and are active in the continued protection of Michigan's mourning doves. Humane USA www.humaneusa.org Formed in 1999, Humane USA is the nation's major political action committee devoted to the task of electing humane-minded candidates to public office at the federal and state levels. This PAC has supported candidates who have successfully defeated legislators who promote the killing of doves. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals www.aspca.org The ASPCA was founded in 1866 and is dedicated to promoting humane principles, preventing cruelty and alleviating the fear, pain, and suffering of animals (including doves) through nationwide education, awareness, and legislative programs. Animal Welfare Institute www.awionline.org The AWI is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 1951 to reduce the sum total of pain and fear inflicted on animals (including doves) by humans. Animal Protection Institute www.api4animals.org Founded in 1968 and headquartered in CA, the Animal Protection Institute's Wildlife division works to protect mourning doves and the ecosystems upon which they depend, through public education, legislation and agency regulation, litigation, and advocacy. Minnesota's Peace for Doves http://peacefordoves.org Minnesota citizens do what they can for their peace dove. The Minnesota legislature buried a dove shooting measure in an unrelated bill to establish an unwanted dove shooting season in that state. The dove shooting language was included only by a "tie," which allowed it through. See more here. Other Organizations: Citizens Against Dove Hunting For over 30 years this organization has tracked and contributed to educational methods resulting in successful efforts to keep dove hunting out of the state of Michigan. The dedication of this organization is second to none and they hold the complete historical archive of the dove hunting issue in Michigan. HEAL-PAC Humanitarians for Environmental and Animal Laws Political Action Committee has worked to pass animal and environmental protection laws; and actively supports the re-election campaigns of compassionate legislators. Citizens For Fair Representation This organization is actively pursuing change that would allow for an elected (accountable) Natural Resource Commission that would reflect and represent the varied wildlife interests of all Michigan citizens. Michigan Sportsmen Against Dove Hunting The majority of hunters and sportsmen in Michigan clearly express personal beliefs and adamantly oppose the "hunting" of doves as a legitimate game species. The SPC membership includes avid hunters in Michigan, these true sportsmen and women do not feel "hunting" doves is hunting at any level and they protect the traditional hunting image in Michigan.
