"Mourning doves are like flying rats."
Expelled Senator Dave Jaye, former chairman of the Senate Hunting and Fishing Committee.

"The issue is not dead. I would like to introduce that bill again, but, as they say, in politics, timing is everything." Representative Susan Tabor

"But these aren't the people who buy hunting and fishing permits so they don't even support wildlife management in Michigan. Really then, it's not their business so they ought to just stick to their cats and dogs and leave the wildlife to us." Representative Tabor

"I already ate them all. It's like that potato chip slogan. Once you start eating them, you can't stop." Representative Tabor.

"I recently suggested that my former colleagues drop the 'Mourning Dove' moniker and rename these rats with wings the 'Field Pigeon'." Former Speaker of the House and MCRGO Executive Director Chuck Perricone.

In order for the voter's voice to count, it must be listened to. The mourning dove issue is a key indicator on who represents the voting public majority, and who represents special interest campaign contributors. If an elected official does not listen to you as part of the overwhelming majority on this issue, they likely will not listen to you on other important issues.
